BP has announced they are to axe thousands of jobs globally including contractor roles as part of a cost saving exercise.
BP will axe 4,700 jobs and 3,000 contractor roles, the energy giant employs 14,000 UK workers and some 6,000 of these work in petrol and service stations, these workers will be unaffected.
Chief executive Murray Auchincloss sent an email to staff which was seen by PA news agency, he wrote, “I understand and recognise the uncertainty this brings for everyone whose job may be at risk, and also the effect it can have on colleagues and teams.
“We have a range of support available, and please continue to show care for each other, be considerate, and keep putting safety first — especially during times of change.”
