20th Jan 25 3:31 pm

Vladimir Putin has congratulated Donald Trump for upcoming inauguration and said he is ready told talk during the Russian Security Council meeting.

Putin insisted that he open to holding discussions with the Trump administration over the Ukraine war.

The Russian President said, “We are open to dialogue with the new U.S. administration on the Ukrainian conflict (Russia‘s war against Ukraine).

“The most important thing here is to eliminate the root causes of the crisis.”

Putin will demand that a peace deal is done only on his terms and will reject freezing the front lines and will only agree if Ukraine withdraws from Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Luhansk and Donetsk which they in part control.

CNN reported on Monday that Trump has instructed his aides to arrange a call with Putin in the “coming days.”

Trump wants to meet with Putin “very quickly” after the inauguration, however there is currently no preparations in place to meet.

Trump “sees things differently” to Putin and negotiations will most likely not go as the Russian leader is planning.

Trump’s special peace envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg has said that the US President’s aim is not to “give something to Putin or the Russians,” but to “save Ukraine and save their sovereignty.”

Trump’s inauguration will unlikely have any immediate impact on the “intensity” of the fighting as it is expected to continue.

Ivan Tymochko, head of the Reserve Council of the Ukrainian Ground Forces, said in a comment to RBC-Ukraine, “Once again, linking Trump’s inauguration to changes on the battlefield is misguided.

“The intensity of fighting will continue and may even escalate, even if some negotiation processes begin.

“Therefore, we shouldn’t expect significant counteroffensives tied to Trump’s inauguration. If such offensives do occur, they will solely be based on military expediency – leveraging available forces, resources, and opportunities to exploit weaknesses in the enemy.”

He added, “Military operations are planned based on military necessity, not political agendas. This is why I always emphasize that Putin prioritizes political goals over military ones. Meanwhile, thankfully, our focus remains on military expediency when planning operations.”
