President Donld Trump has issued a warning to Vladimir Putin as he is looking to end Russia’s war against Ukraine.

Trump has said it is vital to secure a peace deal to end the long-running conflict in Eastern Europe to prevent World War III.

President Trump warned the Russian leader that he is “destroying Russia by not making a deal” to end the war.

Speaking about Putin, Trump told reporters, “He should make a deal. I think he’s destroying Russia by not making a deal.

“I think Russia‘s going to be in big trouble,” he added.

Speaking after his inauguration President Trump said that the Russian leader “can’t be thrilled, he’s not doing so well.

The Moscow Times reported the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky “wants to make a deal” to end this war.

Yuri Ushakov, Putin’s Foreign Affairs adviser said the Kremlin is waiting for “concrete proposals that could form the basis for contacts,” making no reference to Trump’s statements.

Ushakov said, “We are open and ready for serious dialogue with the new U.S. administration on the Ukrainian conflict, and if relevant signals come from Washington, we would pick them up and stand ready to conduct talks.”

On Monday the General Staff of Ukraine’s Armed Forces has said Russia has lost 820,430 troops in Ukraine since the war started on 24 February 2022.

In 2024 Russia suffered a staggering 434,000 casualties which is more than the 2022 and 2023 combined.

In an interview on Sunday Oleksandr Syrskyi said this also includes 150,000 killed in action last year, he did not provide a number on the casualties.

Ukraine’s General Staff said over the weekend more than 819,000 Russian were either killed, captured or wounded since the war started.
