President Volodymyr Zelensky has said that he and officials do not “legally recognise” the Russian “occupied territories” in Ukraine.
President Zelensky said that even if the allies put pressure on him to give up the legal territory of Ukraine, he will not give it up.
Speaking at a meeting with representatives of the International Media Council President Zelensky said, “De jure, we do not recognise, no matter what anyone wants. Even if all the allies of the world unite, we still will not recognize the occupied territories.
“It’s impossible. We do not legally recognize them. For us, they will always remain occupied territories until we return there.”

He said that negotiations should only happen from a place of strength and should there be any attempt to treat Putin on equal terms will be a defeat for Ukraine.
President Zelensky said, “Putin cannot be subjugated in this story. He broke everything. He is to blame and must realise this.
“But you can’t stop him if you talk to him on equal terms – it’s a loss for Ukraine.”
He added, “We must find all the opportunities to end the hot stage of the war. That’s the number one question. There may be a lot of negotiations, but the main thing is to stop the active phase. This is the number one security guarantee.”
President Zelensky said after the war there will need to be at least 200,000 peacekeepers as part of security guarantees to prevent another attack from Russia in the future.
He said, “I support the idea of contingents as part of security guarantees. Because if they [the Russian Federation] have an army of 1.5 million, and if we have half as many, it means that we need contingents with a very significant number of soldiers.”
He added, “Some 200,000 minimum, otherwise nothing.”
